SansGlasses
Sansglasses was a font concept project made to be developed for people with astigmatism or similar visual problems without always needing their visual aids to read. Using detailed recorded field notes and personal observation, the font was designed so that the observed and recorded “word fuzz“ could be used purposefully within the design to bleed into itself rather than to the letter or word next to it.

Why?
I developed this font specifically because nearing the time of when this font was created, 34.7% of people world wide have Astigmatism (Dreyer et al., 2025). And I am personally one of these individuals. I wanted a way to see without always needing my glasses, and thought that perhaps I could dust off and create a concept font in which I could do that. And this, is the result of that.

The digitalised concept sketches (first pass)
The first sketches I made of this font in trying to figure out what approach I should take for my unique and personalised brief of designing a font made for me to read without my glasses on. I did a majority of these hand sketches without my glasses on and then refined with them on after digitalising it.
